Jolie writes from the heart. She's not trying to sound pretentious or lofty; she uses simple, easy-to-understand language, almost as if she were just telling you her story instead of laboriously writing it out (although I'm sure she spent a long time preparing the text for publication). Doing that makes the text more approachable on a language-learning level. It's more real, more accessible and full of great vocabulary and grammatical stuff.
